This week, Joe Klein purports to break down the effect that violent war shows may be having on citizens. He doesn't actually seem to do that, though.
He says
- 24 is a classic conservative fantasy
- clooney should have known better than syrian
- munich and paradise now have the right confused, homanistic kick.
It's not a bad piece, but he spends it looking at the causes, the agents. He's a movie reviewer for Jesus, or, in this case, terror. What I want to know is what happens behind the eyes of the bozo in the armchair, what strange beasts are ticking up inside his gut as Jack Bauer pops another informant, or the CIA kills a president. Someone, neurons are firing through axons and ideas are being shaped.
That's where I want someone to stand, right inside those eyeballs. Can you do that for me, Joe?
